Dolphy gears for a new TV series.

The King of Comedy Dolphy is already 80 years old but he continues to bring joy to his millions of fans in the Philippines and the rest of the world.

The ace-comedian is happy with the success of the Quizon’s World Tour with his sons and he is gearing up for the teleserye "Utoy" with Makisig Morales which will be shown anytime next year.

He will be playing a Gepetto-like character in the TV series, a toymaker called Papa Chu (Dolphy). He creates a toy which turns out to be defective. Yet it serves as a source of strength and inspiration to a physically-challenged girl, Abby.

Dolphy has done such memorable TV characters in popular sitcoms. Most notable is "John en Marsha”. He later reprised his John Puruntong character in "John En Shirley," with Susan Roces and Maricel Soriano. Prior to that, he starred in another ABS-CBN show, "Quizon Avenue," with sons Eric, Jeffrey and VanDolph. Dolphy also played Kevin Cosme in "Home Along da Riles" on ABS-CBN.

"Utoy," meanwhile, is reminiscent of Dolphy’s award-winning roles in films like "Markova" and "Ang Tatay Kong Nanay”.

At the helm of "Utoy" is director Maryo J. de los Reyes, with writers Pablo Biglangawa and Ronnie Velasco (they wrote the acclaimed film "Inang Yaya") and TV director Rechie Del Carmen.

Other cast members of "Utoy" are out to showcase notable performance – Gloria Diaz, James Blanco, Nikki Bagaporo, Miles Ocampo, Jacob Dionisio, Jordan Herrera, Will Devaughn, Riza Santos, Jon Avila, Yayo Aguila, Ruben Gonzaga, Ethel Booba, Victor Basa, Gaby de la Merced, and Donald Geisler, among others.

I'm not sure I want to watch Dolphy in a series. I am thinking he is too old to have another one. But he is an authority when it comes to acting.
