Zanjoe and Mariel star in ‘PHR presents Love is Only in the Movies’

Zanjoe Marudo and Mariel Rodriguez will pair up once again in a new TV show in the Kapamilya network. The real-life sweethearts will star in a new romance mini-series, "Precious Hearts Romances presents Love is Only in the Movies".

It was said that Zanjoe will play the role of an indie film director who doesn’t believe in love due to a traumatic experience that he encountered before. To hide his insecurities, he became a playboy. But he will fall in love with a bartender pretending to be his cousin, played by Mariel.


Zanjoe is not new to playing playboy roles in TV or in the big screen but he said that each role brings a different challenge for him. As for having real-life girlfriend Mariel as his leading lady, he said that he still feels rather awkward every time he would be paired on-screen with Mariel. They have already worked in a few TV dramas including last year’s Valentine episode of Your Song presents.

Both Zanjoe and Mariel are busy with their respective TV programs, Zanjoe with Banana Split and Mariel with Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, Wowowee, and Entertainment Live.

Zanjoe plays Martin in 'Lovers in Paris'

Zanjoe Marudo will be working with Kapamilya stars Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion after he was tapped to be part of the Philippine adaptation of the hit Koreanovela “Lovers in Paris.”

The former Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) housemate will portray the role of Martin, Carlo’s nephew (played by Piolo Pascual) who falls in love with Vivian (KC Concepcion).

"Hindi pa din ako makapaniwala hanggang ngayon na makakasama ko 'yong dalawa. Tapos, ang laki ng role na binigay sa akin ng management, so nagpapasalamat talaga ako," Marudo said.

The actor-endorser who was nominated in the 2008 Golden Screen awards in the category of Breakthrough Performance by an Actor for the short film “Altar” feels pressure for being part of the series which was a big hit when it was shown in the Kapamilya station.

Zanjoe is also part of the hit afternoon series "Parekoy" with John Prats and Jason Gainza. He is also performing in ASAP ’09 and he will also be part of the upcoming show “The Wedding" with Anne Curtis.

Zanjoe feels intimidated by Maricel Soriano

Actor Zanjoe Marudo shared his experiences working with Diamond star, Maricel Soriano for the upcoming mini-horror series entitled "Florinda” on ABS-CBN.

The actor admitted feeling intimidated by Maricel especially during the first taping day for the project.
Zanjoe said that although he feels nervous working with the Diamond Star, he is giving his best to make sure that the actress will not say anything bad about his acting.
Marudo portrays the role of Archie in “Florinda”. Archie is Roxanne Guinoo's boyfriend in the series who is portraying Florinda’s sister. Archie plans to marry her and settle down outside the country but they encounter problems because of Florinda (Maricel Soriano).

Zanjoe started his career as a ramp model. He has turned into one of the most sought-after actors in the country and top bills several television and movie projects.
He is one of the three leading men of Anne Curtis in ABS-CBN’s television series “Dyosa.” He plays Mars, the illustrator who will fall in love with Josephine (Curtis).

He is also one of the lead stars of “Varga” where he portrays the character of James, the love interest of Varga (Mariel Rodriguez).

Marudo’s career skyrocketed when he joined the reality show Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Season 1. After that, he appeared on different shows like “Super Inggo,” “Kokey,” and the sitcom “Aalog-Alog.”

He also starred in the movie “You Got Me” with Sam Milby and Toni Gonzaga.

In the 2008 Golden Screen awards, Marudo was nominated in the category of Breakthrough Performance by an Actor for the short film “Altar.”

Marudo also hosts and performs for the ASAP’08 all-male-group Coverboys.

He is excited as he will be part of the network’s upcoming shows like “Parekoy,” and “The Wedding".

Zanjoe is Mariel's leading man in 'Varga'

On and off-screen sweethearts actor-model Zanjoe Marudo and host-actress Mariel Rodriguez will work together for ABS-CBN's upcoming super-series "Varga".
In the series, the latest boob tube superheroine Varga will fall in love with a mortal played by Marudo.

"Masaya kasi first time naming magkakasama sa isang series, dati kasi mga isang episode lang, " Marudo said.

Marudo shared that he is now excited to see Rodriguez wear her sexy superhero costume for the series.

"Varga" is the story of a being from outer space gifted with superpowers and beauty. She lands on earth and becomes destined to protect humankind from the forces of evil with the help a kind-hearted girl.

As an alien superheroine who comes to love and protect humanity, Varga will undergo challenges that will really test her character.

The father of Pinoy superheroes, Mars Ravelo created "Varga" in 1947. "Varga" first appeared in Bulaklak magazine.

It was Varga whom Ravelo would later evolve into the ultimate Pinoy superhero icon, "Darna" in 1949, when the comics creator joined Pilipino Komiks.

"Varga" is the second part of the "Mars Ravelo’s Komiks Presents" series. The first Komiks series presented "Kapitan Boom!" top-billed by model-turned-actor Jon Avila.

"Kapitan Boom!" is a huge success, enjoying high ratings for its Saturday time-slot.
Other cast members of "Varga" include actresses Dextor Doria, Sheryl Cruz, child actress Angel Sy and Dominic Ochoa.
