Kapamilya programs rule the daytime TV ratings based on the data released by TNS Media Research for Monday, June 29, 2009. Noon-time program "Wowowee" is the number 1 daytime program followed by soap opera "Kambal Sa Uma" and "Bud Brothers." New program "Love or Bread" also showed strong showing and is currently at the top 5 most watched program.

All about web directories

When I was starting my blogging journey, one of the first things that I learned not only to drive traffic to my blog but also to get vital back-links was to submit my blogs to web directories. At first, I thought it was just the same as submitting your blog to search engines since I didn’t even know the difference of a search engine and a web directory then, but later on I learned that a web directory displays a list of web sites by category and subcategory while a search engine lists web pages based on keywords. These web directories allow site owners to submit their sites if it suits in the category. Editors may also need to review if the site fits into the category for inclusion.

Luckily, two of my blogs have been included in some free web directories. A few of web directories where I submitted by blogs are Yahoo! Directory and the Open Directory Project (ODP). It is important to submit your site to ODP because of its extensive categorization and great number of listings. Another good thing is its free availability for use by other directories and search engines.

Aside from submitting your site to a free web directory, some site owners can also pay for the inclusion of their websites on web directories. This is the paid model. However, because it is paid, they generally have fewer listings.

From what I read from fellow bloggers, submission of blogs or websites to a web directory is a common SEO (search engine optimization) technique employed by webmasters to get vital back-links to their web site thereby improving a web site’s pagerank.

However, what I still think that I of utmost important is to create good content on my website. You can submit your site to various search engines and web directories but if your content is not worth reading, then nobody will care to visit your web sites or blogs.

Charice was set to sing with Michael Jackson

Pinay teen singing sensation Charice revealed that she was supposed to appear in Michael Jackson’s comeback concert tour this July. She was saddened by the news that the King of Pop died yesterday due to cardiac arrest.

She disclosed that she was set to join Jackson next week in rehearsals for his comeback world tour.

Charice recalled that when she was in a private party of Warner Brothers, Jackson’s lawyer approached her and informed her that Jackson himself had picked her to be the special guest for his comeback concert. Jackson’s lawyer reportedly told her that “The King” watched her during her guestings on Oprah.

Jackson was reportedly planning to do a Billie Jean duet with Charice while they do a dance showdown after he had watched a YouTube video of the young Pinay singer doing his signature “moonwalk” while singing “Billie Jean.”

Charice who will be performing in her first solo concert in the Philippines today (Saturday) said that she will pay tribute to the King of Pop in her concert.

In need of a Concrete contractor.

July is just around the corner. On this month we may need to start constructing our house in Bulacan. We were told by our agent that all the documents that we need might be sorted out this month. I am now excited but also a bit apprehensive on how much money I will need to spend to construct the house.

The exterior of the house looks complete but one major work that needs to be done is the concrete flooring and the finishing of the house interiors. Of course, we still need to work on the kitchen, bathrooms and we need to construct rooms. Actually, we are now in the look out for a good concrete contractor to do all the jobs.

I already spoke with contractors and I was able to get an approximate cost of constructing the interiors of the house. I have not yet find a good deal because I am also taking into consideration several factors. The price is one of the major consideration and of course the quality of work. I also need to consider if it’s best that I purchase all the materials and let them do the job or if I will just entrust to the contractor everything. I haven’t reached a decision but I still have a couple of weeks to decide and sort this out.

LASIK versus contact lenses.

During these times when every penny counts, I think we should be thinking of a LASIK procedure.

I work in a company that supports digital cameras and recently our client who is a known manufacturer of digital products started releasing cameras that are compatible with HDTV. And we have received calls from customers who don’t have an idea on what HDTV is.

Charice promoting her first major concert

After performing in different events and TV shows abroad, International singing sensation Charice is set to perform for her first major concert for her fellow Filipinos. She is now busy promoting the concert entitled “Charice: The Journey Begins” which will be held this coming June 27, Saturday 8pm at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Charice is excited that her music idol, Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, will be her special guest in the concert. This is a dream come true for the young teen sensation.

Aside from Velasquez, the concert will also serve as a reunion for Charice and her fellow “Little Big Star” contestants as they will also be part of this big night.

Charice will be performing original tracks from her albums and songs that are close to her heart.

Looking for a Landscaping Company.

I already mentioned in my previous posts that I’m looking at acquiring a property in a nearby province. We are still waiting for some paperwork so we can start constructing the interiors of the house but I am hoping that it will come later this month or early next month.

The Kapamilya station registered a 46% audience share in the nationwide TV ratings released by TNS Media research for June 8.

The primetime teleserye, “May Bukas Pa” posted a 41.4% ratings while “Kambal sa Uma” and “Tayong Dalawa” beat their rival new programs.

Pinoy rock stars unite for “Ako ang Simula.”

Singer-songwriter Rico Blanco, Imago vocalist Aia De Leon, and Sandwich frontman Raimund Marasigan joined forces to urge Filipinos to participate actively in preparations for the 2010 elections. The three rock artists collaborated in the theme song of ABS-CBN’s election campaign entitled “Ako ang Simula.”

The song which was written by ABS-CBN creative director Ira Zabat and composed by Mike Villegas talks about initiative to start the change in the country. A key element in the song is the drumbeat heard in all “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo” plugs since the campaign was first launched in 2007. The drumbeat suggests unity and the urgent call for action.

The song’s lyrics have words like “Wag nang mahimbing sa sariling mundo/Wag nang iwaldas ang dekadang bago/Ako ang tutupad sa pangakong ito/Ako ang Simula ng pagbabago.” (Don’t rest in your own world/ Don’t waste another decade/ I will be the one to fulfill this promise/I will be the start of change)

ABS-CBN Newsgathering Head Charie Villa added, “We want to tell the youth that there is no time to waste. The change you want for the country can happen now, and it can start from you. The youth, as the largest voting sector, can turn this country around. They can do it and they should.”

The “Ako ang Simula” music video will be shown on Thursday (June 11) during the Kapamilya network’s annual flag-raising ceremony from 9:55 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. on ABS-CBN. The video was conceptualized and executed by the ABS-CBN’s Creative Communications Management.

Meanwhile, “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” will make a repeat of its groundbreaking May 11 multiplatform launch on Friday (June 12), the Philippines’ Independence Day.

“We have one year to change traditional politics in our country. We can do this if we act and stay vigilant as early as now,” ABS-CBN Senior Vice President for News and Current Affairs Maria Ressa said.

Rica Peralejo is getting married.

Actress-host Rica Peralejo last Friday confirmed that wedding bells are soon to ring for her and a non-showbiz boyfriend.

Rica broke the news over the Kapamilya morning show, “Umagang Kay Ganda” where she is one of the hosts. She said her boyfriend made the proposal while they were celebrating their 10th month relationship.

Rica and her boyfriend belong to the Victory Christian Fellowship where her boyfriend is one of the pastors. It must be remembered that Rica once declared that she will only marry when she finds a “man of God.”

Rica started her career as part of the kiddie show “Ang TV.” She also starred in sexy films like “Balahibong Pusa” and “Banyo Quen.” But she decided to leave the sexy world when she joined the Christian Fellowship.

Choosing bathroom and kitchen designs.

You may have noticed that I was not updating this blog as frequently as I used to. I was really busy with work and with so many other things. If you have been reading my other blog, I mentioned there that we just acquired a new house in a nearby province. We are just waiting for some paperwork so we can start construction.

Actually the house is ready for take out but we still need to work on the kitchen, bathrooms and we need to construct rooms. We opted to get a bare unit because we don’t like the developer’s proposed plan for the house. We also want to make sure that we get to choose the design and materials that will be used on the house. I was actually looking for different bathroom and kitchen designs. I already spoke with contractors and I was able to get an approximate cost of constructing the interiors of the house. I have not yet find a good deal because I am also taking into consideration several factors. The price is one of the major consideration and of course the quality of work. I also need to consider if it’s best that I purchase all the materials and let them do the job or if I will just entrust to the contractor everything. I haven’t reached a decision but I still have a month or two to decide and sort this out.
