Charice wowed audience at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York

After her highly-acclaimed day in the popular show “Good Morning America”, international young diva Charice once again made all Filipinos proud as she performed for Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in New York City on Thursday.

Charice was introduced by NBC’s host as “The Internet Phenom from the Philippines” before her performance on top of the “Good Housekeping” float. She sang "Because You Love Me", by her music idol, international performer Celine Dion.
Other performers include international singers James Taylor, Miley Cyrus and Rick Astley.

Charice is currently in the US to promote the latest album of her handler, David Foster. She has a track in Foster's album, "Hitman: David Foster & Friends," along with music icons Kenny G., Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight, Katharine McPhee, Andrea Bocelli and Dion.

Lorna Tolentino is now a certified Kapamilya.

Lorna Tolentino is back with ABS-CBN as she signed an exclusive two-year contract with the network last Wednesday evening, November 26th.

Tolentino, wife of the late Rudy "Daboy" Fernandez said that her newest contract includes two television series and two films.

LT or Victoria Lorna Aluquin-Fernandez in real life, said that her decision to finally return to the Kapamilya network has something to do with her husband "Daboy."

"It's a long process and before naman na mag-decide kami, kasi ABS took care of Rudy and made him really very happy so parang I owe it to them. And alam ko, inalagaan nila si Rudy. Alam ko aalagaan din nila ako," said Tolentino.

And even before the actresss signed her contract, she already recorded an album entitled "Wings of the Soul" for the network's music outfit Star Records, also in memory of her husband.

She said the album "Wings of the Soul" or the HOPE CD 2 will be out on the first week of December.

Vilma Santos signs movie contract with Star Cinema

Batangas Governor and Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos signed a movie contract again with Star Cinema, ABS-CBN’s film outfit Wednesday afternoon, November 26.
Santos said that she’s excited to shoot a movie anew after taking a breather for almost five years. Her last movie project with Star Cinema was “Dekada ‘70” in 2002.
“At least na makakagawa na ako ng pelikula ngayon, tuloy tuloy na dapat last year pa ito kaya lang hindi nga natuloy dahil kailangang asikasuhin ko muna ang Batangas but ngayon may permiso na ng constituents ko so ito na ang signing of contract and we will be starting at least two days within the year then resume kami next week,” Santos said.

Present during the signing of contract were ABS-CBN’s CEO Eugenio Lopez III and President Charo Santos-Concio.

The film with a working title “A Mother’s Story” will be directed by Ms. Olivia Lamasan. The two women’s last project together was a special episode for “Maalaala Mo Kaya” in 2006.

Aside from working again with well-acclaimed director, Santos will be working for the first time with country’s most-sought actor John Lloyd Cruz and her true to life son Luis “Lucky” Manzano.

Santos said that the movie is a story of a mother who works as a librarian. She will eventually find out about her son’s (Luis Manzano) affair with another guy (John Lloyd). Soon she will be facing a lot of problems after a tragedy happened.
To make the project more beautiful, most parts of the movie will be shot in New York and will be shown in the latter part of 2009.

Aside from ‘A Mother’s Story,’ Santos might be doing another project with Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Santos said that she’s happy that ABS-CBN has given her so many good projects like films – “Bata Bata” and “Anak.”

Cristine Reyes in 'Eva Fonda'

Christine Reyes is now excited about the ABS-CBN's upcoming TV series "Eva Fonda"
where she will portray a “liberating” role from sexy to heavy drama.

Christine said she is overwhelmed and honored to be given a chance to prove her talent in acting. She said she worked hard and waited for so long for the series to be aired and finally, the "Eva Fonda" film remake will start airing December 1 (Monday).

The actress admitted that she's pressured of how will the Kapamilya viewers will react to her acting and of the fact that she is finally leading in a soap, but with the help of her family, supporters and friends she said she can overcome everything.

"Siyempre nandoon ang pressure pero as long as nandiyan 'yong prayer at suporta ng mga kaibigan at mahal sa buhay makakaya 'yan," she said.

Reyes said she felt humbled with the previous plan that the soap will be part of the afternoon shows, but she was caught by surprise when she was told that "Eva Fonda" will be aired on primetime.

"Noong nalaman ko sa afternon okay siya sa akin pero noong binalita sa akin na primetime na nga mas natuwa ako kasi makakapanood 'yong mga nagtatrabaho sa mall pag-uwi nila. So I'm happy na marami ang makakapanood ng Eva Fonda," explains Reyes.

The original version of TV series (Eva Fonda, 16) was released in 1976 by Sampaguita Pictures. It was the movie that launched the career of then upcoming star Alma Moreno.

Mariel Rodriguez to grace the cover of FHM

After posing for the cover of Maxim magazine last year, Mariel Rodriguez bared that she has once again posed sexy this time for the cover of the men’s magazine, FHM.

The television host-actress shared that she was made to wear lingerie during the photo shoot, which she branded as the “sexiest pictorial I did.”

ABS-CBN Corporation has been recognized by the Asian CSR Awards, the region’s foremost corporate social responsibility program, for the network’s Educational Television (ETV) project. After “One More Chance”, her blockbuster movie with John Lloyd Cruz, what’s next for Bea Alonzo?

John Lloyd already came up with another movie with Sarah Geronimo (A Very Special Love) which even surpassed their last team up in the box office.

Reports had it that a film project with Derek Ramsay and Sam Milby, is in the works for actress-singer Bea Alonzo.

Bea immediately dismissed talk of issues that may arise from doing the film with Ramsay, which is Angelica Panganiban’s real boyfriend, saying that Angelica is her friend.

The actress, who's been dragged into the Jake Cuenca-Roxanne Guinoo breakup, said that she will never meddle in the relationship of other people. It can be recalled that Cuenca already denied reports that said Alonzo was behind his breakup with Guinoo.

Currently, Bea is still busy taping episodes for ABS-CBN's hit television series "I Love Betty La Fea" with John Lloyd Cruz.

Charice wows 'Good Morning America'

Charice, the country's youngest diva continued to win positive feedbacks for her singing prowess during a guest performance in America's top-rating morning show "Good Morning America."

Charice appeared in the show to promote David Foster's new CD-DVD "Hitman: David Foster & Friends." She is one of several performers included in the album namely music icons Kenny G., Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight, Katharine McPhee, Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. She performed the Whitney Houston chart-toppers "I Have Nothing" and "I Will Always Love You" for the show and received enthusiastic applause from the American audience.

Foster, who has won at least 15 Grammy Awards as a composer and record producer, is currently handling the Filipina’s career in the US.

During the interview with host Chris Cuomo, Foster hailed Charice for her astounding vocal prowess and said that he couldn't wait to produce the young Filipina's next album. He said that Charice had been singing a lot of his songs and was familiar with his music even before they met.

"She just kinda reminds me of the first time I saw Celine singing in a tent when she was 18 and I told Celine that she would sing with Barbra Streisand. And I told Charice that she would sing with Celine and it's all come true. She's amazing," Foster said.

Charice also joked that Foster was like a dad to her.
"I think it's amazing, working with him. I think he's funny and very comfortable working with, he's like my dad. 'Hey dad,'" Charice said.

Charice met Foster last year in Los Angeles before she taped her guest appearance on "The Ellen Degeneres Show". They later flew together to Las Vegas on a private jet to watch the farewell show of Celine Dion at the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum.

According to Charice, it was Foster who recommended her to Oprah's show and it was Oprah who in turn recommended her to Foster to handle her international recording career.

After her two guestings on Oprah, doors of opportunity started to open for the young Filipina. She has performed in various events such as Macy's 150th anniversary, the Carousel of Hope and even sang a duet with world famous tenor Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany, Italy last July.

Charice will stay in the US for three months to record her first international album, which is set for release in the early part of 2009.

Mossimo Bikini Summit 2007 winner, Gail Nicolas, is the first participante of Pinoy Fear Factor South America to be eliminated in the competition.

She was the first one to go out of the competition after she failed to execute the last challenge called “Escape de Auto Sub-aquatico” which goal is to save ‘Mariana’, a doll strapped in a car submerged 5-meters deep underwater. Gail struggled to get baby doll Mariana from the back seat of a car submerged in a pool. The baby doll got entangled with the seat belt, and when Gail could no longer hold her breath, she had no choice but to swim up to the surface.

Marion dela Cruz and Erwin Felix were able to accomplish the task, thus, they earned the right to continue with the competition.

‘Himala’ is CNN’s Best Movie of All Time in Asia Pacific

Ishmael Bernal's film “Himala” was voted as the best Asia-Pacific movie of all time by the visitors to the US television network Cable News Network’s (CNN) entertainment Web site.

The 1982 classic which was directed by Ishmael Bernal and written by Ricky Lee was the only Filipino movie nominated. It featured a young Nora Aunor as a simple girl from the province who turned into a faith healer.

La Traición (The Betrayal) premieres on November 17.

Although “El Cuerpo” ends this week, Mario Cimarro fans have something to look forward to as the actor will soon be back with another series that will premiere on November 17. La Traición (The Betrayal) is the actor’s next series with Danna Garcia of Pasion de Amor).

It is co-produced by United States-based Telemundo and RTI Colombia. It is based on the classic epic Colombian novel “El Caballero de Rauzán” written by Felipe Pérez in 1887.

La Traicion features the story of Hugo de Medina, a handsome, mysterious swordsman, with a reputation as a womanizer. His life crashes around him when he finds he suffers from catalepsy, an incurable condition marked by loss of voluntary motion. The same disease felled his father years before.

This dashing young man meets Soledad de Obregon, a gorgeous, refined girl and the two are bound together by sudden passion, though matters are complicated by Hugo's desire to hide his infirmity.

As the adoring couple prepares to marry, tragedy strikes again. Hugo’s sinister brother, Alcides, who has always been in love with Soledad, betrays him and steals his betrothed. The rest of the telenovela deals with first Hugo's quest for vengeance and then his attempts to regain the trust and love of Soledad.

ABS-CBN executives said that Karylle will appear in the station's musical-variety shows and soaps. She's also set to do an album and reprise her critically-acclaimed portrayal of Maria in STAGES' production of the Broadway musical West Side Story
But first, Karylle will have to finish her commitments with GMA, and singing the National Anthem at the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar dela Hoya match in Las Vegas on Dec. 6.

Maricel Soriano renews contract with Star Cinema

The Diamond Star Maricel Soriano will remain a Kapamilya after she signed another contract with the ABS-CBN’s movie outfit, Star Cinema.

The multi-awarded actress said that she's excited to know that she'll be doing movies again after doing sitcoms and teleseryes with the network.
She said that with her new contract, she will have to choose her projects more carefully. She said she will pick projects that inspire her. She said that working with Star Cinema is an honor since she enjoyed all the projects she made with the movie outfit.

Part of the contract is an upcoming horror but heartwarming movie entitled "T-2," to be directed by Chito Roño.

Maricel said they will soon finish the film, which is a reunion project with Roño. Soriano's last project with the director was in 1995's "Dahas."

"T-2", according to the actress, is far from other horror films she made simply because it was executed in a very different way to make it unique.

The movie tells the story of a young kid who lost her parents at a young age. She eventually meets Claire (Maricel), a woman who's falling out of love with her husband.

The film also stars comebacking actor Eric Fructuoso, child star Mica dela Cruz (younger sister of actress Angelika dela Cruz) and Derek Ramsay as Maricel’s husband.

She said that all the movies that she did for Star Cinema are memorable.

Maricel is also busy promoting her upcoming television series "Florinda."

Young superstar, Judy Ann Santos is still a certified Kapamilya despite reports that circulated last year that she’s all set to move to a rival network. She proved her loyalty to ABS-CBN when she signed last Thursday for another two-year contract until 2011, an assurance that she will remain in the Kapamilya network after her present contract expires July of next year.

She shared that her new contract gave her much more freedom in choosing her upcoming projects. “Mas masaya lang ako sa kontrata ko ngayon kasi sa akin nanggaling kung ano yung mga programang gusto ko gawin. Parang feeling ko bilang artista, yun lang din naman yung hinahanap ko na siyempre, kung gagawa ako ng isang trabaho, gusto ko yung gusto ko,” she said.

The 30-year-old actress also assured her fans that she will still be visible in both networks, despite her decision to stay a Kapamilya.“Andito pa rin po ako, pasensiya na po kung medyo nakabahan kayo. May mga tampuhan lang na nagaganap pero wala naman na hindi naayos sa magandang pag-uusap kapag kapamilya mo hindi ba? I really treasure my loyalty and my friendship and the love that ABS-CBN gives me. For whatever its worth, I’m so happy that I’m still here.”

Piolo, Sam charmed fans in London show

Kapamilya hunks Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby charmed thousands of Filipinos abroad in a successful concert held at Palladium theatre in London last Sunday, November 2.
Some fans from as far as Canada, U.S. and Japan went to watch their idols in the London concert. Other Filipinos even stayed in the hotel near the venue where the two actors performed.

In the show, Pascual performed hit songs like “Ikaw Lamang,” "Don't Give Up On Us Baby," and “Ikaw ang Aking Pangarap” -- the theme of his hit television series “Lobo” with onscreen partner actress Angel Locsin.

Actor Milby touched the hearts of his fans with his performance of “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” “My Girl” and “Maging Sino Ka Man” -- the theme from his hit series “Maging Sino Ka Man” with actresses Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo and actor John Lloyd Cruz.

Aside from Pascual and Piolo, host-comedienne Pokwang was also present to bring laughter to our fellow Kababayans in London.
For Pokwang who was once a fan to local stars also extended her unending gratefulness to all the Pinoys abroad who keep on supporting her.

Juday preparing for 'Ploning's' international screening

Young Superstar Judy Ann Santos is preparing for the red carpet screening of her movie “Ploning” in Hollywood.

Juday said in an interview on “The Buzz” that the screening was sponsored by a Filipino in the United States. She said Filipino-American stars in Hollywood, including Lou Diamond Phillips and Rob Schneider, are also expected to grace the screening.

"Ploning" is one of 67 entries vying for the Best Foreign Language Film award in the prestigious Oscar Awards next year.

The film is about the story of Ploning (Juday), a woman considered the town's beauty who is torn between keeping her two promises -- one is to look for her greatest and first love Tomas in Manila or stay in Cuyo to take care of the young boy Rodrigo who depends on her motherly love and care.

The Filipino movie bet will have to be included in the top five entries for the directors and actors to attend the awarding ceremony on February 22nd. The Oscar nominees will be announced on January 22nd.
